Crampton's

This is a long overdue post about my trip to Crampton's last month.

Crampton's is a market that focuses on selling good food to nice people. (Awww!) They sell anything from local meat that vary from elk to bison to beef (I know this is a veggie site but I am guessing there are some readers that eat meat...), various cheeses and in house made baking such as pies and a variety of breads. They of course have a wide variety of produce that is mostly local (the mouth watering B.C. cherries get a pass here) along with local eggs and milk.

They even have quirky ingredients like this!

I have never seen or heard about this product but it has a great texture, lots of favour and the best part is, it's vegan and gluten-free! This meatless vegan jerky has no preservatives, GMO's or artificial colours.  Crampton's sells this excellent protein source (perfect for a mid-day snack) in three different flavours which include a variety of key base ingredients like soy, seitan and shitake mushroom. Therefore, you can pick the Hot and Spicy flavour that is shitake mushroom based versus the hickory smoked flavour which is soy based. With a $1.99 price tag, I am going to make sure to stock up next time!

You can visit http://www.primalspiritfoods.com/products.php to learn more about the nutritional benefits of this product and the variety of flavours.

Crampton's really is a lovely well stocked, friendly store and I try and stop by every two weeks to show my support. If you are vegan, vegetarian or living gluten-free, you will have no problems finding products including baking to purchase. Unfortunately, they are not open year round (I guess that makes sense since they sell local goods) but that should give anyone more incentive to make the effort to visit this unique store that is located on the corner of Waverley and Bishop Grandin.
